MANDATORY RPing ETIQUETTE:
1.) Members may not utilize the characters of another member without that member’s express permission.
2.) Members may not join the RP plot of another member, unless a disclaimer is included at the beginning of the RP that indicates an interest in other members joining. Please respect the time and effort that often goes into planning a complicated plot. Also, plots must be approved by the administration, especially:
a. Death or mutilation of a character.
b. Having someone stalk, kidnap, or hold one of your characters as hostages.
c. If you intend for one of your characters to become pregnant, the members of both parental characters must consent to the conception. Then, and only then, may one of you petition the administration for approval.
3.) Members are encouraged to put forth their best effort in their posts. Grammar, punctuation, and correct spelling are ideal… though not always possible. Administration reserves the right to PM members about repetitive misspellings, especially misspellings regarding words in the Midnight Rising Universe. What is mandatory, however, is keeping the language appropriate to the characters. No racial, gender, or other slurs! However, insults coined specifically for this ‘verse are allowed. Unless the words are leaving your character’s mouth, however, resist using them. When RPing, all posts must be a minimum of five sentences.
In the OOC Forums, excessive cursing is outlawed.

4.) Midnight Rising administration allows posts from G to NC-17. X-rated posts are prohibited. Ever so sorry for any inconvenience. If the RP deserves a rating higher than PG, please label each new topic appropriately in the title. Administration will be more than happy to delete your post if you label it incorrectly and overstep the rating system allowed. Trust me.

a. Rating G: General Audience. All ages admitted. This signifies that the thread rated contains nothing most parents will consider offensive for even their youngest children to see or hear. Nudity, sex scenes, and scenes of drug use are absent; violence is minimal; snippets of dialogue may go beyond polite conversation but do not go beyond common everyday expressions.

b. Rating PG: Parental Guidance Suggested. Some material may not be suitable for children. This signifies that the thread rated may contain some material parents might not like to expose to their young children - material that will clearly need to be examined or inquired about before children are allowed to read the thread. Explicit sex scenes and scenes of drug use are absent; nudity, if present, is featured only briefly, horror and violence do not exceed moderate levels.

c. Rating PG-13: Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. This signifies that the thread rated may be inappropriate for pre-teens. Parents should be especially careful about letting their younger children read. Rough or persistent violence is absent; sexually-oriented nudity is generally absent; some scenes of drug use may be featured; one use of the harsher sexually derived words may be heard.

d. Rating R: Restricted-Under 17 signifies that the thread rated contains some adult material. An R must be assigned due to, among other things, a thread’s use of language, theme, violence, sex or its portrayal of drug use.

e. Rating NC-17: No One 17 and Under permitted to read. This signifies that most American parents would feel that the thread is patently adult and that children age 17 and under should not be allowed to read it. The thread may contain explicit sex scenes, an accumulation of sexually oriented language, or scenes of excessive violence. The NC-17 designation does not, however, signify that the thread is obscene or pornographic.

NOTE: The administration cannot determine who reads the threads. They can only require the members to warn other readers about the content within the thread. Members are expected to respect the rating system, whether reading or writing the scenes. The administration will not be held liable for members who disregard the rating and are exposed to scenes or language considered offensive or obscene.

Similarly, if you can't write a good sex scene without being obscene or pornographic, you have NO business writing one. And the administration will delete it.

5.) The administration reserves the right to edit or delete any post that breaks these rules. The administrators will attempt to PM or email a copy of the message to the writer before deleting, with an explanation of why the message was deleted. A writer may edit the message to abide by the rules and then repost. However, reposting the message without the changes will only be deleted and earn the writer a (possibly final) warning.

CHARACTER DELINIATION AND SPECIFICATIONS:
I.
RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR PLAYING GENERAL CHARACTERS
1. Pets – Any approved creature can be kept as a pet in Orion. However, some creatures are not capable of surviving off their native Plane or cannot be exported off their native Plane (no Teharan creatures as pets off of Teharo; no exceptions). Pets must be approved as a separate character. If your character has a pet mentioned on its sheet, it must be posted in the same thread as the character.  If your character acquires a pet LATER, it must be submitted for approval BEFORE you role-play your character acquiring it.

Remember, Sareya Montgomery of Orion’s Arrows has a motto about pets. “If it is bigger than the average human, more aggressive than the average human, or looks like it might be thinking about doing me harm, I have the right and the privilege to kill it on sight.” More importantly, the administration reserves the right to turn down a member’s petition for a pet if the administration does not believe the character could control the creature. [Exceptions may apply if the creature is involved in a plot that is explained and approved by the administration.]

2. Children—even half-breeds—are special commodities. That is why the administration requires pregnancies to be approved as plots. However, to limit the possibility of undesired occurrences in the world itself, rape is one of the MOST prosecuted offenses in the Midnight Rising ‘verse. And “prosecuted” means that Orion’s Arrows hunt the character down and tears him/her apart limb from limb while doing something extremely interesting with the internal organs as he/she still lives. Administration essentially reserves the right to kill off the character that dares to violate this rule without plot approval; the member will also be placed on probation.
3. Administration may also add more rules to this list. If the rules are edited, a message will be posted in the OOC Ramblings Board to warn all members.
